Cabbage

Too bad our foods are getting more and more...lame.

Ok Baby Bear, you're almost 3 pounds and it's so strange to think about the fact that you'll probably grow 3 times the size you are now in the next 10 weeks.  Yes, darling, 10 more weeks.

Daddy said to me the other day "I can't wait to hold her in my arms".  It made me happy to think of Daddy holding you, talking to you, and loving you.  Last week he laid his head on my tummy and heard your beating heart.  It does make me sad though, that he doesn't get to feel you every day the way I do.  When we were at the doctor last week, Julie to me that your back is to my back and you're sitting up and down.  It's very hard to hear your beating heart now.  You've moved into a strange position that it feels like you're trying to stand up inside of me.  I can't feel you kick on the outside anymore, just push down on me.  This morning you were up in my ribs again though.  Every couple days, you're all moved around :)

Standing up is like having a bowling ball dropped on my pelvis.  You're getting so big!

Last weekend Grandma, Grandpa, and Uncle Mikey came over to help around the house.  You're gorgeous room is almost painted (thanks to Grandma), I don't have to bend over to do laundry anymore, thanks to Daddy, Grandpa, and Uncle Mike (but lucky  me...my dryer died).

You're coming into such a great family!  We already love you dearly!!!

You'll be here so soon :) I can't wait!!!

Love you Baby Girl!

Baby Chinese Cabbage/Butternut Squash

Ok - another busy week means I'm combining two weeks.  I'm sad to tell you that your great great grandmother passed last week and we went to her funeral on Monday.  At her funeral, your Grandma  Clark got to feel you kick her for the first time.  Grandma Trail was a wonderful woman who loved children, and especially loved girls.  She would have adored you so much!  She was an amazing cook, an amazing gardener, and volunteered all her extra time with all sorts of organizations.

28.5 weeks - headed to grandma's funeral
We are 29 weeks along.  You are over 15 inches long and 2.5 pounds.  Most day you feel soooo much heavier than that.  When I stand up, it's like having a bowling ball dropped down on me.  I still love fruit and ice cream.  If I get a hold of chips, I'm a pretty happy girl too.  You are so active and kick all the time.  Many of the kids in class have felt those sweet kicks.  They think you're pretty spectacular too :)

It's been very frustrating being sick again.  We have the flu again, luckily, not nearly has nasty this time.  But I think it's going to hang around a lot longer.  I really wish we could feel better, and even more than that...sleep.  I'm soooo tired of not being able to sleep.  Being rested would feel amazing!

It's late and time for bed.  Hopefully we'll get some sleep tonight.

I love you Baby Bear!

Cauliflour

Good morning Baby Bear,

It's been a busy week of Valentine's Day parties, glucose testing, and thankfully, a long weekend.  We are 27.5 weeks along and you are over 14 inches long and 2 pounds.  You are so very very strong and I feel you move all the time.  At our last appointment, we took our glucose test and passed :) we were also measured (I was in the middle of a conversation, so I didn't ask what we measured).

Julie told me the saddest news when she said she wasn't doing evening clinics anymore and her latest day would be 3:40.  I basically begged her to keep letting me come see her.  I want nothing more than to be consistent with my nurse, since I don't have a doctor.  After some begging, pleading, and a little guilt trip, she told me she normally doesn't leave until 4:30 and asked what time I could be here.  We are so very lucky to be able to make a 3:40 appointment every other Monday and be able to see Julie at 4:00.  She said she'd tell Cara that we aren't late every Monday.  I'm so happy that she's going to keep seeing us.  I need something consistent in this pregnancy!!!

The weather keeps getting nicer and nicer.  Every day it's above 40 outside, I realize that we're SOOOO close to this due date.  And....we've done....nothing in weeks. I walked past your room yesterday and broke down for 20 min into sobs, realizing we've got very little time to be ready.  It's not really THAT close, but I realize that daddy is starting softball full swing next week and time is going to be very precious.  He was gone all weekend at a basketball tournament and the day we do have off together, I don't want to be working.  I want to hang out with your dad, not be working and cleaning.  So...that's our plan.  Next week hopefully we can get some stuff done.  House cleaned and your room painted.  It's so incredibly cute.  I can't wait to get your crib set up (but first we need to do the floors).

I'm scared baby girl.  I'm scared that I won't be everything you need.  I'm scared that I haven't taken the classes, read the books and kept up on all the ins and outs of what I'm "supposed to be" or "supposed to do"once you're here.  But...at the same time, I also think that women have been doing this for thousands of years without books and classes.  And I have a pretty good sense of children and talk to people and realize that no matter what, we'll get through this together.  I love you more than you could ever imagine.  I love the way to punch me, I love to watch you dance in my belly, I love to listen to your heart beat, I love looking at the picture of you from 8 weeks ago and think...oh so soon, you'll be in my arms.  My precious little girl will be here, with your daddy and I, and our little family will grow to Mommy, Daddy, baby, puppy and kitty.  We will be perfect and I'll fall in love with you even more.

Until next time Baby Bear,

I love you,

Mommy

ohhhh - on another note, Grandma and Grandpa Clark sent us a Valentine's card addressed to Anthony, Erin and Baby Bear :)

And Grandma Butler is in the process of planning a very cute and amazing baby shower for you.

And...daddy had a very eye opening realization of all this happening when I put baby Uriah in his arms.  He's going to be the very best dad in the world!

Darling Eggplant

hmmm - eggplant.  That's easier to visualize than a "hot house" cucumber.  And I missed last week's rutabaga, because who has any idea the size of a rutabaga???

I'm 26 weeks along.  I've gain almost 20 pounds...pretty much all out in front of me.  Baby girl is a very active little creature.  Her Grandma Butler got to feel her last week.  And last night, she kicked up such a storm, even daddy noticed.  I thought was was turning in a new position.  I was right.  I woke up this morning, put my right foot on the ground and almost fell from the shooting pain from my back, up my spine, and down my leg.  Thankfully, I have a comfy chair at work and my kids are fairly independent (as independent as 7 year old's can be).

It's less than 100 days until Baby Bear is supposed to be here.  And 40 something days until Arizona.  It falls pretty much right in the middle of now and then.  I'm beginning to realize we have a LOT to do in the next couple months.  Thankfully, my mother-in-law is so amazing and throwing us a baby shower in 2 months.  That should help with some of the odds and ends I'm looking for to put this all together.  And like I told my mom, even if her room isn't perfectly set up, who cares?? She won't be in it the first couple of months anyway.  Thanks to Grandpa Otter, I have a gorgeous cradle, that I slept in, next to our bed.

I'm sure I'll go into crazy nesting mode here sooner or later.  The walls will get painted.  The tree will get done.  The crib will get set up.  And our bonus room will be cleared once again so we can see the couch and put all the office stuff away.  Someday, I'll find some motivation for this to happen (it would help a lot to have a husband home on the weekends).

Softball and baseball season are almost in full swing.  That means life is about to get very crazy, very fast.  I'm ready for some warmer weather and being able to wear less clothes.  Let's be honest, clothes are itchy.  And I itch...a lot.  I want to be able to go outside again, see green grass, soak up some sun.  Soon enough I guess.  But warm weather means less time at home.  Practices, games, tournaments and a very, very busy husband.

Here's to warm weather and sports!  Oh, and also a very large belly :)

Baby Grapefruit

Our foods are getting more and more bizarre.  One app says corn, one says grapefruit.  I swear you're getting smaller.  BUT, you're over a pound and just about a foot long from head to toe.  I feel you move ALL the time and you make me smile (unless I'm trying to sleep).  You kill me at night when you're awake and I'm trying to get comfortable.  Most nights we do just fine :)

We went in for a prenatal massage yesterday, it was divine!  Except the lady kept wanting to talk.  I wanted to sleep.  I came home and felt like jello, I just wanted to crash.  We have another one that I'm planning on using sometimes in April :)

I'm getting sick...less, I think.  It's been the coldest winter EVER!  We had 3 days above freezing for a month.  It's finally getting warmer, which is nice.  It's so weird to not be cold.  Ok, 3 degrees was chilly, I'll admit that, but the 30's feel pretty darn good!

Nothing too exciting this week.  My cravings for juice are less, but fruit is still amazing!  I'm not really craving much right now.  I've gained about 14 pounds and I'm visually pregnant :) you're pretty darn cute!  And I must admit, you've been pretty kind to me as well.  I haven't blown up like a balloon...yet.

Love you sweet daughter of mine!

oh - one last crazy detail.  Your lungs are developed enough to be able to live outside me with a machine in the NICU.  I thought that was crazy!  If you were born, you could live :)  It's frightening to think about, BUT at the same time, there's more piece of mind with that as well.

Until next week!

Dear Mango

Yup, I agree with Jen, you sound smaller than when you were a carrot/banana...

You can't get be getting smaller, that's not how it works.  I just imagine you as a ball the size of a mango, all curled up.  Yea, we'll go with that.

You're almost a pound and you are SOOO active! I love it!  We went to the doctor yesterday and had a great appointment.  I spent a lot of time talking to Nurse Julie about the last couple of months.  She's so happy to hear things are going so much better.  She also reaffirmed me that I'll like any of the delivery doctors we get.  They just always seem to be in such a big hurry.  But she promised me it will all be ok on delivery day.  She also said that we get to see her from now until delivery day.  She's our go-to gal.  She's so amazing and makes me feel important and validated in my feelings.  She was also there on that very very scary day and made the light at the end of the tunnel very bright.  She's there to look after me, and you, and make sure we have all the right people keeping track of us :) Ok, enough about Julie.

Well...A parent jinxed us this week.  She asked how I'd been staying so healthy and I went into this long explanation about how I'm not a germ-a-phobe and I've just been taking my prenatals and staying healthy.  The next night I felt that tickle in the back of my throat and could barely sleep that night because that tickle turned into a full blown sore throat.  I'm now having so much fun with congestion in my head and ears.  Luckily, I'm feeling a little better today, and it's a 3 day weekend.  I should be back in full swing by Tuesday (pre-evaluation day).

Well, daddy and I are cleaning the house today and going to shop for some bedding for you.  Hopefully then I can pick a paint color to paint your room.  It's going to be darling!  Love you Honey!  You make me smile every time I picture your cute little feet, that precious portfolio, and the thought of you in my arms.

Baby Spaghetti Squash (I missed banana)

Hi Baby Girl!  (22 weeks)

Last week you were a combination of banana and a carrot. I guess now that you've being measured from head to feet, we have really strange long fruits and vegetables.  This has been a great and not so great couple weeks.   We'll start with the not-so-great.  We went yurting with my family.  They all started to notice the "not me" again.  I told you daddy I was glad I had an appointment soon.  All is well now, the doctors we see are so helpful and amazing at making sure you and I are healthy.

Christmas break was a lot of laziness, which I desperately needed, but we didn't get much accomplished.  Daddy finished cleaning out your room and I have a few spots painted.  I have no idea which purple I like the best.  I sat in your room before going to work this morning, staring at the wall (yea, that totally happened), I have no clue what your personality is, and it's making this very hard.

Here's the best part of my week...Daddy asked to be the first one to feel you move.  And I wouldn't take that away from him for anything.  Although, I was terrified it would happen at school and I'd be so excited I'd say something and then hands would attack me.  Luckily, we came home one night and Daddy was medicating and covering his tattoo (yup, he's tatted up and looks amazing!) when I felt you nudge me.  He came over and you quit moving.  It didn't take you long to start up again.  The first time I asked him if he felt you and he said he just felt my whole body move, you scared me.  But then you gave a few strong jabs and he was the proudest man in the world.  Thank you so much Sweetheart for making his birthday perfect!

You've been so very active since then.  Karsyn had the fantastic opportunity to feel you at her tryouts (I sorta grabbed her away from her team to do it, but that was totally worth it).  Aunt Rachel asked if you were going to be a soccer player.  I told her that daddy would be PROUD to have a softball player.  I might push you in one direction over the other, but ultimately, I'll leave that decision up to you :) I love to feel you move, kick and punch.  I even love the way you make me mildly nauseated when you turn over.  Knowing that you're strong and healthy is worth all the pain and ickiness we've got through.  I'm not going to lie, you're still making me sick at least 1/2 the mornings I get up, but it's not so bad the rest of the day (except for about 1 night a week).  It's worth it.  You're worth it.

I'm soooo addicted to fruit and fruit juice.  This is a nice change of pace from the oh-so-healthy icecream I wanted before.  I still love sweets, but fruit totally does it for me!

You're getting so big and everyone can see the bump you've given me now.  The kids at school today even said, wow, your baby must be getting big.  I've gained about 10 pounds and feel great!  I love looking down and seeing you, I love being able to feel you, I'm finally able to be in love with this pregnancy.  I hope we get to stay like this for a while.  We've go so many great people looking out for us and there are soooo many people ready to love you and spoil you.  I've already got a pile of cute clothes for you in your closet.  And a gorgeous blanket your grandma made for you.  I'm the luckiest mommy to have such a great support group of family and friends.  You will be the luckiest baby in the whole wide world.  There are so many people who already love you, especially me and your dad.

I guess waiting 2 weeks to post makes for a lot to say.

I love you my sweet little owl,

Stay healthy and stay strong...only 4 months to go!

Love you!

Mommy
